Minister of Tourism, Ade-John, Perm. Sec. Ministry of Tourism Lagos commends Akwaaba for 19th edition, as Lady Ibru admonish youths to embrace hardwork

Nigeria’s Minister of Tourism, Ms. Lola Ade-John has said promoting the country’s domestic tourism sector will be one of the points of focus for the ministry.

The minister said the ministry will be synergizing and collaborating with the private sector to drive tourism development, making it one of the drivers of the nation’s economy.

Speaking at the 19th edition of West Africa’s biggest travel fair, Akwaaba African Travel Market, in Lagos, the minister represented by Mrs Patricia Narai a director in the ministry, commended the organisers for hosting the event which drew tourism enthusiast from different countries in Africa and Nigeria.

Ade-John stated that she is interested in promoting the domestic tourism and will explore the numerous tourism potentials in the country to grow the sector.

Speaking also at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Lagos State, Mrs. Oloruntoyin Atekoja commended the organisers for staying resolute in the promotion of tourism in the country and for hosting the 19th edition in Lagos.

She urged the organizers not to rest on their oasis in promoting the sector, but to redouble their efforts ensuring that tourism thrives in the country.

In her address at the event, Chairman and Publisher, Guardian Newspaper Lady Alex Ibru, urged African youths to embrace hardwork and shun indolence.

She said one of the factors that could guarantee success for the youth was to stay focused on specific goals and not take multiple professions at the same time.

“I advise the youth to always remain focused toward achieving success and this is through hardwork. It is important to make success of your lives.

“As humans, aging starts from our feet upwards, exercising our feet is a life-long task. So, we must work to keep being successful and healthy.

“Don’t dabble into two different businesses, embrace partnership but not with close friends,” she said.

Ibru also urged parents to cultivate healthy relationships with their domestic staff, saying they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

Earlier, Ikechi Uko, organiser of AKWAABA Africa Travel and Tourism Market, commended the efforts of Nigerian youths blazing the trail in the tourism and hospitality industries.
