Ibom Air Chief Pilot, Ruth Adebanwo Wins Africa Travel 100 Women Award

The Chief Pilot of Nigeria’s startup airline, Ibom Air, Captain Ruth Adebanwo has won the coveted Africa Travel 100 Award which recognises exceptional women in the travel and tourism sector.

Captain Ruth Adebanwo’s career spans over 18 years in aviation. She has been a cabin crew, a first officer and eventually a captain commanding various types of Aircraft in some of the prominent Airlines operating in
Nigeria. Her type ratings are:

• CRJ 700/900/1000,
• Boeing B737 300/500,
• De Havilland DHC-8, Q400
• Cessna 441.

Captain Ruth is a consummate professional with professional qualifications including NCAA Air transport pilot License Post Graduate Diploma (Air Safety Management) City University of London, London, Commercial Pilot License 43 Air School, Port Alfred South Africa, (ACSB5), Cabin Crew Certificate from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Zaria Diploma in Data Processing, Debis Computer Professional Institute, Kaduna.

Captain Ruth is a Nigerian from Kwara state and is happily married with
2 boys.
